The Elephant's Nest Inn is a quintessentially English - and Devonshire - country pub set in a peaceful location within the Dartmoor National Park. It is a place to meet, whether for a drink or to eat, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. There are open log fires, thick stone walls and slate floors inside, and outside there is a large and recently extended garden which provides marvellous views of the moor.

Being located in as remote a place as it is, great emphasis is placed on good food, although the pretentious 'gastro pub' description will not be heard here!

An extension to the pub has recently been completed to provide three en-suite double/ twin bedrooms in order to offer a bed and breakfast facility.

The Elephant's Nest Inn is one of only three pubs in Devon to feature in every edition of The Good Pub Guide since it began publication 25 years ago.

Open every day from 12 noon to 3pm and 6.30pm to 11.00pm (10.30pm on Sundays). Last orders for food are 2.15pm and 9.00pm.

Children are welcome in two of the dining areas and the garden; those under 14 are not normally permitted in the bar.

Lunches and dinners are served every day and on Sundays two roasts are always available.

Friendly dogs are very welcome.
